Victorian Carved Gothic Oak Bishops Chair, Throne

This is a very rare piece of Ecclesiastical or Gothic Revival Church Furniture, the chair is similar in style to a Hall Porter’s Chair, it would originally have been set into the Wooden panelling of the church

The chair is made in Oak, it has a carved tall back with a carved canopy overhead, there are carvings of the saints on the sides and the regalia of the bishop on the back.

This is a very rare piece to find, it could do with a little restoration, it is basically sound and very heavy, but there are a few small pieces of the decoration missing no doubt this happened when it was removed from the church

The chair is 80” Tall, 32” Wide and 23” Deep, the seat height is 17”
