Victorian Astronomical Telescope by Watson & Sons telescope Watson Sons London
A Victorian brass astronomical telescope on stand with star finder by Watson & Sons.

This superb telescope complete with original wooden case comes complete with original mahogany and brass tripod. Both lenses are in complete and good working order with no chips or scratches and is marked to Watson & Sons, 313 High Holborn, London.

Established in 1837 by William Watson, the company became William Watson & Sons in 1883 after the founders death and the business was continued by his sons. Attending numerous British Industry Fairs during their heyday in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, this top quality maker was finally incorporated into the Pye Instruments Group in the 1950’s.

Please note that there is a small split to the underside of the brass tube but it does not affect the inner workings of the telescope and remains in sound useable condition.

Circa 1890
