This lovely bookcase / cabinet is of superb quality. It dates from c.1880 and is constructed from solid mahogany. The piece has an astral-glazed top with two doors that open to reveal three adjustable wooden shelves. The inside of the doors have curtain rails. The lower section has two wooden doors, which open to reveal two removable wooden shelves. The piece is supported on a plinth base. Both sections are lockable and two keys are present, one of which works the top and one of which works the bottom. The keys are not original. The doors retain brass handles and escutcheons, the bottom one of which is possibly a replacement. The piece is of nice slim proportions. Please note that it splits in two for ease of transportation.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There is some mimimal wood shrinkage splitting to the right-hand side. There are some signs of restoration and repair.
