A fine very large 19th century English gilt overmantel.
This frame is in excellent condition. It has been fully restored and is now ready for another 100 years life.
It has been water and oil gilded in the traditional manner, lightly distressed and patina applied.
The glass, (not shown as it is in storage) is in immaculate condition.It is an original mercury plate,with an even sparkle all across it. There are no dark spots.
This frame, if to be fitted above a mantelpiece, would need a minimum 3.5 metre high ceiling. Alternatively it can be hung on a wall but with a supporting baton below it as the glass is extremely heavy. If this item is not entirely suitable, please do not hesitate to contact us as we have a large store of un-restored items which can be started on if necessary.
