Unusual George IV Solid Mahogany Side Table
An unusual George IV solid mahogany side / work table.
c1820.
This elegant table is of a very unusual and wonderful design. The solid mahogany top is over dummy drawers to each side. The top of the table works in two ways, the left side has a drop-leaf, so giving extra space on top. The right side has a drop-front, which opens from pushing a lever from the underside of the table, which then reveals a storage area. A very unusual, clever and very useful design.
This sweet table has a lovely rich warm, even colour and patination to the figured mahogany.
Supported by elegant turned legs, with brass castors.
The overall condition is excellent antique, original condition. With some expected marks to the top, shown in the pictures. The catch to the drop-front appears to have been replaced.
Very solid sturdy and strong.
