A portrait of a young boy in blue by Thomas Paul Hall (fl.1837-1867). Signed and dated '1856' to the lower right.

Thomas P. Hall was a London painter of genre and historical scenes, who enjoyed success during his lifetime, exhibiting at the Royal Academy and British Institute between 1837 and 1867.

This portrait is well painted and full of character. The sitter in this portrait has blond hair, blue eyes and a blue coat with large silver buttons. The work has craquelure throughout and some areas of paint loss.
