Superb Set English Ash Ladder Back Dining Chairs
Bargain! Priced to Sell.
An Outstanding Set of Contemporary, Craftsman-made English Ash 'Clissett' Style Ladder-back Chairs
Completely and entirely hand-made in south Shropshire by master craftspeople Stuart and Jane Carroll, utilising the most traditional of tools and time-honoured methods.
This stunning set of chairs are crafted from English green ash and both the process and design is faithful to those most recognisable and loved English chair designs made popular during the Arts and Crafts period, some 100 years prior.
The outright quality and their hand-made appeal is a joy to behold: traditional English craft / vernacular joinery at its best. They are effectively the antithesis of mass-produced, factory output furniture and are true craft-revival pieces....intended to be loved and used by generations to come.
From raw tree trunk to a finished, beautiful and functional chair, a whole process of traditional methods and tools have been employed. Hand-cleaving, hand-turning, the use of a shaving horse...with legs and stretchers racked to dry in the rafters of the craftsman's 15th century house. With solid, chamfered plank seats as shown.
Included are two carvers and four standards. Each chair is stamped, numbered and signed to the underside. The pride, quality of execution and attention to detail is wonderful.
The wood on these examples has been left in its natural state (not stained), but instead dressed with a pale, home made beeswax, which enhances the beautiful and varied grain of the wood.
These are being offered at a significant discount to the original cost price of having these made....... and they are also ready to be purchased and enjoyed NOW! Note: there is usually a 6 - 12 month lead time from ordering to receiving these, so all in all this really does represent an outstanding opportunity for someone out there).
Many more photos are available - just call or email for more information. Thank you. Email or call for any further information on this item. We give great attention to each and every item we select and offer for sale, priding ourselves on the accuracy of our descriptions and research.
