Substantial Antique Silver Pocket Watch And Chain
Antique heavy duty silver Waltham pocket watch and impressive albert. The size of the watch and chain, and also that it originated from Lancashire, suggest it belonged to a flamboyant business man or landowner.
The watch has a key-wound movement, Sterling grade, which is working nicely. The movement is signed and the serial number 13,895,589 dates it back to 1904. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch itself measures 57mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop so it is bigger than a standard 50mm pocket watch. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case backs for Birmingham 1906 with a case maker's mark for Aaron Dennison. The Dennison Watch Case Company made the majority of cases for Waltham UK.
The case is in very nice condition and there is a vacant cartouche to the hinged case back.
The thick watch glass has a few short scratches but is acceptable.
The dial is in very nice condition and it has the name of the original retailer of the watch, T Wharton Smith, 5 Yorkshire St, Burnley.
The watch comes with a heavy duty Continental silver chain, 31cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. There is also a shorter chain attached upon which hangs a 1905 silver fob.
The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE.
