OIL ON CANVAS OF MOUNTED JOCKEY IN FULL RACING COLOURS & PRESENTED IN BURR-WALNUT FRAMEUNDER GLASS 20.5 X 15.5 INS

A well painted and sought after oil on canvas,protected under glass,in a nicely crafted burr-walnut veneered frame,with gilt painted wooden slip and beval cut trim.

We have re-waxed the wooden frame in order to nourish the walnut veneer,which was a little dry.

The Jockey is shown with wip in hand,wearing his full racing colours,depicted in a bright red buttoned waistcoat and blue sleaved shirt,with the usual white trousers,tucked into his leather boots.

The painting has been well executed to a realistic scale and has retained good detail and shadowing in the grassy foreground,being complemented with a clear cloudy blue skyline above meadow.

The condition is very good for the age,which we estimate to be between c1900-1920.

The oil is a nice size and would be a good decorative piece for any study or office.
