Small Welsh Cottage Box Settle c1830

Something very special.
A beautiful Welsh Pine Box Settle of the most desirable traditional form and highly sought after small size - Pembrokeshire c1830
At just 3ft 4”” long with perfect seat height and a gently sloping back this is a gorgeously comfortable little settle. In wonderful original condition with the sweetest proportions.
These iconic Welsh sgiws were originally found in taverns, cottages and farmhouses of the region often in the kitchen or beside the fireplace. This one being about as small as you can hope to find was likely made for a small cottage or alcove.
Ever so comfy and small enough to work in any room this is a very special example indeed. With a frame of figured oak and elm it is strong and sturdy with fabulous grain and warm and nutty colour true to age. A beautiful settle in every aspect and one of the smallest we have had in a long while.
Length 103cm. (Maximum length at arms 108cm) Height 106cm. Seat Height 45cm. Seat Depth 41cm. Max Overall depth (from wall to front) 52cm
