Silver gilt shell pair cases - London, 1781

MOVEMENT Gilded verge movement, signed and numbered (32521). Pierced and engraved balance cock. Nice clean condition and running well.
DIAL The white enamel dial is virtually perfect with just a few surface scratches. The excellent matching gold hands are beautifully sculptured at the spade ends. There is an old repair to the minute hand.
INNER CASE Silver gilt, hallmarked for London, 1781. Some of the gilding has worn off the outside though still complete on the inside. The stem and bow are gilt brass. The hinge is fine and the case closes nicely. The high dome bull's eye crystal in excellent condition.
OUTER CASE Gilt brass, with shell covering. Good colour. The case is in original condition with no restoration. The shell on the back is complete with none missing but two short cracks. The shell on the bezel is missing a few short pieces. Seven pins missing from the back and four from the bezel. The hinge and catch are fine and the case closes nicely.
