River Landscape Oil Painting By Arthur F.Allwright
We are offering for sale this tranquil, sunset landscape by the artist Arthur F. Allwright, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner and dated it 1903.
The artist has entitled the painting 'Golden Eve' on the stretcher.
The painting depicts a calm, still stretch of water, bordered to the right by low rolling hills and tree loines banks, with a rocky promontory to the right foreground.
The artist has managed to capture the reflections of the trees on the left superbly.
Arthur F. Allwright was apparently active between the early 1880s and around 1913, from the dates on the paintings of his that we have seen going to auction in recent years, but he obviously did not exhibit, as he is not listed in any of our reference books. The majority of his paintings were in oils and landscape in subject, although there were a couple of landscape watercolours.
The painting has been newly framed in a 3 1/2" silver gilt frame and will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
