A very elegant, small Regency curl mahogany writing desk c1820. Rectangular curl mahogany veneered top above three frieze drawers. Long central drawer contains a burgundy-coloured baize lined writing slide that can be adjusted to a convenient angle or removed. Flanked by two small drawers with the right-side drawer fitted for stationary items. Drawers with ebonised pull handles and continuous figuring to the curl mahogany veneers. Secondary slide housed below the central drawer. Top with recessed panels to sides and back. Raised on solid mahogany, shaped end supports with carved scroll detail to top and on out-swept small sabres, terminating in brass cap castors. End supports joined by a low, shaped stretcher. Retaining the original finish with a beautifully aged patina throughout. The writing desk is 76 cm in height, 76 cm in width and 42 cm in depth.
This writing desk is in excellent condition commensurate with age. Writing surface has been re-baized. Original finish retained. Minor historic marks, wear and repairs as is to be expected with genuine antique furniture. This table has been restored in our workshop to a very high standard using traditional methods and materials. Please see images as these form an important part of the description.
