Pocket Watch - Gold cases, London c1780

John Wilter - London, c1780
Gold pair cases, verge, calendar movement
MOVEMENT Gilt verge movement, with engraved and pierced balance bridge, large silver regulator disk and four square pillars. Signed 'John Wilter, London'.
All in good complete original condition and running. The calendar function is also complete and working.
DIAL Very unusual white enamel with signed, pierced and engraved silver central disk, with a blued steel backing. Calendar aperture at the base of the central disk. All in fine condition. Fancy gilt hands.
INNER CASE Gold, with no hallmarks and some rubbed makers marks. All in very good condition. The bezel snaps shut nicely and in generally good condition. Good high dome crystal.
OUTER CASE 52 mm. Gold pair case, in excellent condition. The hinge, catch and catch button are all fine and the bezel snaps shut nicely.
John Wilter is listed in London between 1771 and 1795 but Wilter is a name sometimes used to sign watches made on the Continent during the mid 18th century. These are usually marked 'London' but were probably made in Holland or Switzerland. This is almost certainly a Continental watch, made in about 1780.
