This is a very beautiful and very unusual French Empire, late C19th bed, with matching pot cupboard made by the well known "Mercier Freres" of Paris, circa 1890. The quality of craftsmanship is superb throughout both pieces, fine ormolu mounts and carving. The bed is made in satinwood with the parquetry being maple. The pot cupboard is of an equal quality, lined with thick marble and with the original marble top. The bed is complete with a new fitted base, pot cupboard in included within the price.
