A truly extraordinary pair of late 19th.c. English walnut throne style open armchairs. Carved in high relief with floral decoration, fearsome medieval style lion’s heads on the arms, turned supports and shaped stretchers. Most remarkable however, are the wonderfully naturalistic court jesters climbing through windows below the crest rail of each chair .
