Pair of Victorian Spoon-Back Nursing Chairs
This pair of antique spoon-back nursing chairs date from c.1890. They have over-upholstered frames with deep button-backs, and are supported on what we believe to be turned walnut legs at the front and shaped legs at the back. The front legs terminate in original brass castors. The chairs are upholstered in a red velvet -type material that is later than the chairs.
Condition Overall this attractive pair of chairs are in usuable condition, but would benefit from a bit of tlc. The joints do have some movement, and there is some wear and scuffing to the legs as might be expected. The upholstery is grubby, worn and faded, and one chair has a small hole to the left-hand side of the seat. This same hair has a sunken seat that would benefit from attention.
