Pair Of Silver Napkin Rings, Chester, 1916

A fine quality pair of George V Sterling Silver Napkin Rings. These are handmade items, so although they are definitely a pair there are very slight differences between them, which makes them that little bit more special. The Napkin Rings were made by silversmiths Robert Pringle & Sons and assayed in Chester in 1916. Robert Pringle was actually based in Clerkenwell Road in the City of London and most of their pieces have London hallmarks but from time to time they did send items to Chester to be assayed.
The Napkin Rings have a very stylish floral engraving to either side of the blank shield shaped cartouche. They are in very good condition with no dings or dents and only the most minimal wear. The hallmarks on the opposite side to the cartouche are very well struck and crisp on one ring and just slightly rubbed but still clear to read on the other.
The Napkin Rings are approximately 4.4cm in diameter and the pair together weigh in at 21.1g of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the sword & three wheatsheaves assay mark for Chester, the date letter "Q" for 1916 and the R.P makers' mark for Robert Pringle & Sons.
