Pair of Scottish Rugby 9CT Gold & Enamel Medals
A pair of Scottish Rugby 9CT Gold Medals and associated 9CT Gold Identity Disc Bracelet.
The first medal is engraved with the following presentation inscription
"Gala FC Sports 1921, Won By Jedforest, W Renilson".
It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "WHH", "9" and ".375" for 9 carat gold, the Birmingham "anchor" town mark and date letter "u" for 1919/20.
The second medal in gold with a rugby player depicted in enamel to the centre. The rear hallmarked with the maker's mark "WWC", "9" and ".375" for 9 carat gold, the Birmingham "anchor" town mark and date letter "z" for 1924/25.
Also included is an associated Identity Disc engraved with the name "H Renilson" and an address.
The history of the recipient of the medals worthy of further research.
There is a W Renilson listed in the record of the Jedburgh Border Games as winner of the Jedforest Handicap Sprint in the years 1921 and 1925.
The medals come in a small cardboard box from Alex Kirkwood & Son, Medalist, Edinburgh who probably supplied them originally. This firm still in existence today.
