Splendid pair of large 16th.c. style oak Wainscot armchairs c.1930. Elaborately carved backrests with an arched panel beautifully inlaid with a pattern in contrasting timbers of a bird in a tree. Shaped arms supported on turned front staves which run to the floor, board seat with a carved frieze below, legs joined with floor level stretchers typical of the form. Excellent colour and condition.
