Pair Of Bright Cut Silver Teaspoons, London, 1915

This is a top quality pair of George V Bright Cut Sterling Silver Teaspoons in the traditional Old English pattern. The bright cut engraving on the front of the stems is exquisitely done and catches the light beautifully. The spoons are assayed in London by well-known silversmiths Josiah Williams & Co in a very good gauge of silver and date to 1915. Although their items were assayed in London (and occasionally in Birmingham) Josiah Williams & Co were based in Bristol (which had no assay office).
There is no personalisation of any kind on the spoons. The hallmarks, on the reverse of the stems, are well struck and clear to read.
The Teaspoons are in very good overall condition with only minimal wear and tear, certainly nothing more than you would expect in items of this age and use. These spoons would make a lovely gift, with blank cartouches which could be engraved for the new owner or would be a great addition to any collection. Please make sure to view all the photos.
The spoons are each 11.7cm long and together weigh a substantial 31.5g of solid sterling silver.
The hallmarks are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter "u" for 1915 and the GJ over DF makers' mark for George Jackson and David Fullerton of Josiah Williams & Co.
