Pair Arts & Crafts Style Teaspoons, Mappin & Webb

This is an unusual pair of Edwardian Sterling Silver Teaspoons in an Arts & Crafts style pattern. The spoons are made in Sheffield by world famous silversmiths Mappin & Webb and date to 1904.
The pair of teaspoons are in a very distinctive Arts & Crafts style with stud decoration up both sides of the stem, both top and bottom and a plate style blank cartouche at the top of the stem. The bowls are very unusual with an octagonal shape, rather than the usual rounded one. They are entirely suitable for use today or would make a great addition to any spoon collection.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and only the most minimal surface wear. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The spoons are each 12.1cm / 4.8" long and the pair together weigh in at a respectable 30.2g / 1.06oz.
The hallmarks on the undersides of the bowls are crisp and clear to read and there is also a registered design number on the underside of the stem. The hallmarks are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the gothic date letter "m" for 1904 and the famous M&W makers' mark for Mappin & Webb. The registered design number is 448494, which dates the design to 1904/5.
