This is a most attractive French gilt overmantle of superior quality with its fine original water gilded finish in superb order. The imposing mirror is a grand size and is in beautiful original condition throughout. The water gilding has a wonderful rich colour and the crest of the mirror has fine detail that is all original and intact. The mirror glass is a good quality deeply cut bevelled plate in perfect clean condition with no blemishes or signs of ageing.
A lovely crisp, clean example dating from around 1870.
The mirror is a good size and measures 164 cms by 94 cms to the extremities of the piece.
