Napoleon III plum mahogany standard double bed

This is an incredibly good and opulent French standard double bed. It dates to the reign of Napoleon III, around 1860. The bed, unusually for a French piece, is made in plum pudding mahogany. There is no wood which looks so rich, especially against the gilt ormolu detailing.
The bed has a shaped pediment with fluted columns to both head and foot board. The show wood is raised on the footboard with paterae to the corners. There is even trailing gilt ormolu garlands on the side panels. There is an awful lot of quality in this period bed.
The bed is a standard double. It comes with its base and a standard double mattress. The mattress is old but clean. Let me know if you would like me to send the mattress with the bed if you do not intend buying a new double mattress.
The bed is in good condition. What I like about this bed is that it isn't huge and lowering. It is no bigger than a standard antique bed frame but it packs so much quality and opulence in to a small package.
Some minor losses to ormolu. The bed splits for moving.
The headboard is 62 inches high and the footboard is 32 inches high. The mattress is a standard double 54 inches wide and 74 inches long.
