Mid-Victorian Stained Pine Chest of Drawers c.1870

The good quality stained pine carcass with plinth top above two short and three long graduated drawers, having the original knob handles and good brass oval escutcheons, standing on turned bulbous feet survives from the mid Victorian period.
The chest is in good sturdy condition and shows a good smattering of un-contrived attractive wear and tear with scuffing commensurate with its age, with the original stain now worn through in places whilst the drawers all run smoothly and the carcass and feet, which are later replacements, are structurally sound. One of the knob handles has an area of loss. The escutcheons are of good quality and unusual to be found on a pine chest of this type and the knob handles are all original which makes for a nice change.
This piece of furniture’s texture, colour and character all improve with use. Good value.
