Mid-Century Silver Inkwell & Pen Rest, c.1950s

This is a charming small Mid-Century Sterling Silver Inkwell and Pen Rest. The inkwell is cylindrical with a step mid way up and stands on a base formed as back to back letter Cs. The pen rest sits above the inkwell on a curving strut attached to the back of the cylinder.
Although it is hallmarked, there is no makers' mark or date letter that we have been able to find. It may have been only lightly struck and polished away over time. We understand that it was originally acquired in the 1950s.
The inkwell has definitely been used but remains in overall good condition with just some superficial surface wear and tear. It would be a stylish addition to any desk today. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
It stands 4.1cm / 1.6ins high, is 4cm / 1.6ins wide across the base and 3.5cm / 1.4ins deep. It weighs in at a respectable 29.2g / 1oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the front of the inkwell are an incomplete set but well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver and the leopard's head assay mark for London.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
