Mid-Century Norwegian Silver Jam Spoon, c.1950s
This is a very striking Mid-Century Norwegian 830 Silver Jam or Preserve Spoon in a rococo design pattern called Oldemor or Grandmother.
The spoon is made in Tønsberg, Norway by Thorvald Marthinsen Sølvarrefabrikk and dates to around the 1950s. Founded in 1883, Thorvald Marthinsen remains a family run firm today and has provided silverware to the Norwegian Royal Family and the Olympic medals for Oslo in 1952 and Lillehammer in 1994.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and only the most superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 60 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The spoon is 14.5cm / 5.7ins long and weighs in at 22g / 0.78oz of solid silver.
The marks on the underside of the stem are crisp and clear to read. They are the 830S stamp for 830 / 1000 grade silver, the NM Norwegian copyright design mark and the goblet stamp, which is the makers' mark for Thorvald Marthinsen Sølvarrefabrikk.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
