'May Blossom' oil by Benjamin Eastlake Leader
A beautiful small oil on cnavas depicting landscape with trees in blossom by Benjamin Eastlake Leader the son of the famous Benjamin Williams Leader. The work is in lovely condition faint signature bottom right has almost been rubbed away but is inscribed by the artist on reverse. The painting is mounted in a period gilt frame and slip, the frame has at some point been regilded and restored. The painting and frame are in excellent condition and ready to hang. C.1910.
Benjamin Eastlake Leader was a landscape artist following in his father's footsteps but studied in Cornwall and was a pupil of Stanhope Forbes, and was a friend of Laura and Harold Knight. He exhibited widely inculding the Royal Academy but sadly his career was cut short by his death in World War One in 1916.
