Magnificent Biedermeier escitoire abbatant.... circa 1820.
In fabulous figured mahogany, this wonderful escritoire has a drawer to the top with another below, the fall front opening to a most impressive fitted interior with a mirrored, galleried top section which pulls out to a ' secret ' compartment behind, an array of compartments and drawers with further hidden storage wells and a slide out tooled leather writing surface, three more graduating oak lined drawers below, all drawers and fall front have lovely mother of pearl escutcheons and all have working locks and keys.
normal marks / scuffs commensurate with age and use and some minor veneer ' nibbles ' but overall this is an outstanding quality piece of antique furniture in good condition with a very pleasing colour and patina which really needs to be seen to fully appreciate just how wonderful it is.
