Late Victorian Oak Davenport Desk
-Welcome to Mersham Manor Antiques-
A good quality late Victorian oak davenport.
c1890.
This attractive davenport desk has a newly fitted tan leather, gold tooled sloping writing surface, with a hinge lidded stationary box to the back.
The hinged sloping lid opens to reveal an attractive mahogany lined stationary storage well, with two small drawers to the back.
To the right side of the davenport are four mahogany lined drawers with original brass handles. All brass locks and escutcheons are present.
To the opposing side are four dummy drawers.
Standing on the original castors.
In very good condition, general minor expected signs of age and use. One of the dummy drawers has a shrinkage mark through the centre of the drawer front, shown in the pictures. The top has a mark to the left corner, shown in the pictures. No key.
Very solid sturdy and strong.
The dimensions are taken at highest, widest, deepest points.
Height-88cm. Height to the under-side of the writing slope-60.5cm.
Width-61cm.
Depth-59cm.
