This is a really good original example of a late 18th century oak coffer or sword chest dating from around 1790. The original hand forged spear type hinges are in good solid order and the attractive brass escutcheon is also present. The chest is in remarkably clean condition with a good colour and very nice patination to the solid oak.
The chest is a practical size, measuring 126 cms long 55 cms high and 38 cms deep.
