An unusually large Mejii period Japanese cabinet on stand. The parquetry and marquetry inlaid with various coloured woods and decorated black lacquer with gilded metal handles and hinges. The top with a hinged lidded box with black lacquer and decorated interior. Below are 2 slope sided drawers and 2 doors with intricate inlaid lacquer panels of pheasants, flowers and foliage. There are 2 drawers either side of a pull-out and folding writing slope and deep drawer below. The 2 doors open to reveal an inlaid 6 drawer interior with further gilt metal handles. This cabinet stands on a black lacquer 2 drawer base and the sides have gilded metal carrying handles. In good condition with minor touch up to scuffs on the black lacquer base. A stunning cabinet which would make a feature statement in any room. More pictures available on request.
