Large Continental Porcelain Table Lamp & New Shade

This is a large and very attractive hand painted Continental, possibly Italian, Porcelain Table Lamp together with its new bespoke shade from the makers of the Downton Abbey, Peaky Blinders, Mr. Selfridge etc. lampshades.
The base has a hand painted scene upon the front over a very pale shell pink surround, with wonderfully ornate and gilded handles to each side, terminating in a palm shape. The gilding continues around the neck of the vase and around the handpainted scene. The scene depicts a group including 3 women, a baby and a man wearing a hat, being punted along the high banks of a river. The young woman with the baby wears a similar folded headdress to Roman women, which is why we surmise that it may be Italian, although it is unmarked. The vase sits upon a wooden, footed base in the oriental style and has a brass cover.
The bespoke shade is in the 'Maia' style and has been made in gold damask, with gold fringe, overlaid with champagne coloured beaded drops and is trimmed with a matching gold braid.
The lamp has been completely rewired with gold fabric covered braided flex and has all new fittings, including safe switched lampholder, plus and shade carrier. As with all electrical items, it is recommended that it be checked by a qualified electrician before use.
Height to top of shade: 34" - 86.35cm
Diameter of shade: 19" - 48.25cm
Diameter of base: 7" - 17.8cm
Condition: Excellent. There is no damage to the vase and the gilding is in very good condition. The shade is new.
