Large 1940s illuminated WELCOME HOME sign
Well, we like the one off pieces and this, indeed, is a true one off. Dating the 1940s this illuminated glass front hand painted “WELCOME HOME” sign may well have been a shop piece welcoming the returning troops, or even an individual member of the services, home from the war. Whoever it was for, a truly unique piece was created with this sign. The sign has been re-wired and four new brass bulb holders fitted replacing the original 1940 ones (no longer legal) and the sign has a PAT certificate from our electrician.
The glass front is all hand painted, and although are some losses to the paint, the whole effect is just rather fabulous, we feel.
