19th.c. Italian portrait in oil on canvas of the 16th.c. beatified priest Filippo Neri (1515 – 1595). As befits a man renowned for his piety, good temper and wit, he is sensitively painted here with a kindly smiling face, clutching a white lilly, symbol of purity. Some minor damage at the edges of the canvas, presented on the original stretcher in the original moulded and gilded frame.
