Arthur Vandyk Antiques are delighted to present for sale this beautiful part set of German Hildesheim Rose spoons marked 'W' 835. These spoons would make an ideal present for a loved one or a beautiful addition to your silver collection.

The branch of the rose design is moulded into the handle, leading to four symmetrical engraved leaves and the delicate and vivid rendering of the Hildesheim Rose on the terminals of each spoon.

The Hildesheimer Rose is thought to be the oldest rose in the world, it is over a 1000 years old and originated in 815 AD and grows on Hildesheim Cathedral in Germany.

The spoons are in generally very good condition with minimal wear to the tips of the spoons and look unused, some deeper tarnish marks evident and surface scratches consistent with age are evident, otherwise a presentable and beautiful example of European silverware.
