Heavy antique silver Goliath watch chain 242g
A heavy antique silver Goliath double watch chain, 242g.
This is an impressively heavy silver double chain, the heaviest we have ever seen at 242g.
The T-bar is hallmarked for 1893, and has the maker’s mark for GEG, believed to be George Gee. The graduated links all have the lion passant silver mark and one has the GEG mark. One of the clasps is date stamped for 1888, with the GEG mark, and the other is blank suggesting it is a later replacement. It is lovely to see that the majority of the pieces came from the same silversmith.
Each chain measures just over 12” / 31 cm long including theT-bar and the clasp.
Also included is the Goliath fob, hallmarked for 1902 with a maker’s mark for William Dingley, a Birmingham silversmith. It was usual for the fob to be made by a different silversmith to the chain maker. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE.
