This is a particularly elegant double bed. It is Edwardian and dates to around 1910. The bed is extremely good quality, made in solid mahogany with crisp boxwood string and flame mahogany panels to foot and headboard.

The bed stands on original casters and comes with original side irons and its Staples sprung base. All you will need is a standard double mattress.

I think Edwardian antique furniture has been too long overlooked. It is incredibly smart and sophisticated and replaced very heavy ornate Victorian antique furniture. This is a wonderful bed. The slatted design means it is open and airy and a good bed to sleep in. You won't feel boxed in! The bed still has a lot of presence and the polished mahogany makes it very opulent looking.

The bed is in good condition. It splits for transporting and is rigid when bolted together. No sign of damage, repair or worm. Mahogany well polished. The original sprung base from Maples is original to the bed but is in good order and worth retaining.

The bed takes a standard double mattress 54 inches wide and 75 inches long.
