A Fine Antique Edwardian 18 Carat Yellow Gold Half Hunter Pocket Watch, SKU W3186.

This 18ct yellow gold savonnette style half hunter watch case has a hinged inner, back and front cover.

The front cover is released by depressing the hallmarked winder.

The ring attachment is also hallmarked.

There are Roman numerals to the front cover indicating hourly time.

The white porcelain dial has black Roman numerals with auxilliary seconds at six.

The dial is signed 'Thos. Russell and Son, 12 Church Street, Liverpool'.

Engraved to the inner plate is the inscription 'Tho Russell & Son Makers to Queen Victoria, Liverpool', and a motif with the words 'Tempus Fugit', and the serial number 103913.

(A full hunter watch has a solid lid to the case and must be opened in order to be read. A variation is the half or demi hunter. In this style, the centre of the case is replaced by glass, allowing the hands to be seen and the watch read without the need to open the cover.
A half hunter thus provides maximum convenience whilst a full gives best protection.)
