STUNNING GEORGE III SOLID SILVER GILT SNUFF BOX & 9ct GOLD RESERVE BY JOSEPH WILMORE BIRMINGHAM 1810
A stunning George III silver gilt oblong snuff box by Joseph Wilmore. Assayed in Birmingham 1810. Designed with overall basket weave decoration, the cover with a 9ct gold reserve engraved with a crest and script initials JP. Measures 7cm (2 3/4in) long, and weighs 63g (2.05 oz.).
The unrecorded crest of an embowed and vested arm with gauntleted hand holding a ewer/flagon.
Gilt interior and hallmarked to rim.
Overall in excellent condition, no dents, dings or previous repairs. Basket weave decoration still very well defined. A quality piece by a highly sought after and skilled silversmith.
