A fine Georgian period heraldic oil. The oil painting probably formed part of a larger scheme, perhaps from an interior and has been cut and mounted on a board. The shield shows a rampant lion on blue and red with gold crosses. The motifs of ribbons and palms at the top and bottom of the work are typically from the later Georgian period. The painting has had some repair over the years and restoration. The work is mounted in a late nineteenth century gilt frame. The whole is in good condition and ready to hang. C.1800.
