George V Silver Butter Knife, Walker & Hall, 1927

This is a large George V Sterling Silver Butter Knife in the traditional Old English pattern. The butter knife has the classic scimitar shaped blade. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The butter knife is made in Sheffield by famous silversmiths Walker & Hall and dates to 1927. Founded by George Walker in 1845, he was joined by Henry Hall in 1853 to form Walker & Hall. Hugely successful with retail outlets in major UK cities and in Australia, South Africa and New Zealand, the company was merged with Mappin & Webb and Elkington & Co to form British Silverware in 1963.
Condition is very good, with just a slight ding at the tip of the knife blade and the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after this period of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The butter knife is 15.3cm / 6ins long and weighs a very respectable 31.9g / 1.1oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the underside of the stem, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter k for 1927 and the W & H makers' mark for Walker & Hall.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
