George V Silver Butter Knife, Walker & Hall, 1926

This is a neat George V Sterling Silver Butter Knife or Spreader in the traditional Old English pattern. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The butter knife is made in Sheffield by world famous silversmiths Walker & Hall and dates to 1926. Founded by George Walker in 1845, they became Walker & Hall in 1853 when Henry Hall became George's business partner. Hugely successful, the company had showrooms around Britain and in many other countries. In 1963 they were merged with Mappin & Webb and Elkington & Co to form British Silverware.
Condition is good, with no dings or dents and just a little bit of spotting, probably caused by salty butter. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The butter knife is 10.6cm / 4.2ins long and weighs 8.6g / 0.3oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the underside of the stem, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter II for 1926 and the W & H makers' mark for Walker & Hall.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
