French Inlaid Walnut Escritoire Writing Desk
An absolutely stunning antique French compact desk also known as an escritoire, with a wonderful shape. This was made in France and dates from around the 1920’s period.
The quality is outstanding, this has many extremely beautiful features. It is made from a variety of inlaid woods, predominantly walnut, kingwood & rosewood with lovely cross banded and criss crossed veneer patterns. There is a leather topped writing surface that can slide out further to give extra knee hole space. There is a beautiful small marble top surface with a pierced gallery, and this has amazing quality ormolou mounts throughout. The back is also beautifully finished, so this can be used as a free standing item.
We have had this recently re-polished, the condition is excellent for its age, with a gorgeous colour tone and patina.
