French Antique Pine Four-Poster Sleigh Bed
Here is a good quality French double four-poster bed.
Late 19thc c1890.
The bed is made of Pine and Beech. The bed posts are Beech, which is a denser, heavier wood than pine, making the bed more robust and strong. The headboard, footboard and sides are made from Pine.
The headboard has an elegant Bulls-Eye carved cresting.
With a panelled footboard.
The four-poster top is a slightly later added addition, of excellent quality.
Fits a standard UK small double 4ft mattress. Could be used with a UK single 3ft mattress, just leaving a small space each side, (6 inches each side) enough to tuck a duvet in.
With a pine slatted base.
Very sturdy, solid and strong.
In good antique condition. General signs of age and use. Lovely colour, patina and character to the wood. Signs of historical wood-worm in a few places. This has not affected the wood in any way, just left marks, which overall have been filled. It is very solid and sturdy. Treated for wood-worm by us, only as a precaution, even though it is obviously historical.
Completely dismantles-headboard-footboard-two side rails-the slatted base stacks. The four-poster top completely dismantles.
