Very good condition commensurate with age
We are pleased to offer this very fine mid 19th century walnut and ebonized davenport bookcase.
The top has a heavy moulded cornice leading down to a full glazed panel door. The door is surmounted by crisply carved classical motifs.
The davenport has a sloped black tooled leather writing surface and sits on heavy high Victorian carved columns. There is one long drawer and six short drawers to either side.
This is a piece of antique furniture of great quality. It was originally commissioned for the Great Exhibition and was purchased in 1996 for £15,000.
