Fine rococo Victorian hall stand umbrella hat
This is a glorious piece of antique furniture. The hall stand is mid to late Victorian, dating to around 1870 or so and is made in mahogany. It is supreme quality.
Victorian hall stands can be heavy and lowering but this is very airy. Look at the quality in the fine rococo fretwork to the back. And it is perfect!! The hall stand has all its nine turned pegs with an oval mirror in the centre. The mirror has its original glass which is in good order with minor age spots as you would imagine. There are carved shields in the back and a finial on top and an arrow detail.
Beneath, is a large shaped marble shelf and a glove/key drawer below.
The shelf is supported on carved, fluted and turned columns and the base retains its original half moon drip trays.
This is a really good hall stand. It is high end furniture. The condition is very good. Damage to arrow detail - see photo. The marble is perfect so must be a replacement. Originally the hall stand would have had two loop leather straps coming out of the sides to contain your umbrellas!!
If you have a grand hallway then this hall stand will add considerable opulence without overpowering your space. A very good piece.
The hall stand is 47 inches wide and 19 inches deep and 81 inches high.
