Fine Regency Mahogany Davenport Desk

A fine quality early 19th century Regency mahogany Davenport with a London retail label.
An interior drawer has a paper retail label for "Samuel Keene No 356 Oxford Street".
The desk has decorative ebony line inlays and beadings to the drawer edges and drawer knobs.
The top section has a sloping writing surface, a brass gallery back and slides forward over your knees when in use.
The writing surface hinges open and has a storage area with two working and two dummy drawers.
To the right hand side of the slope is an inkwell drawer which pulls out and hinges back to present the inkwells beside your right hand.
Below the side of the sliding top are two pull out slides to rest stationery on.
The right hand side of the desk also has four mahogany lined drawers while the left hand side has dummy drawers.
The desk is raised on four turned ebony legs with gilt brass casters and cups.
The front and back of the desk is cross banded with mahogany and ebony strung.
The davenport is in very good condition with an original olive green coloured leather writing surface.
The davenport is of exceptional quality throughout and shows little signs of use apart from some spilled ink in the inkwell compartment. (Circa 1810)
