F.I.Naylor Watercolour St. Pauls after the Blitz

We are offering for sale this extremely well executed Watercolour, pen and ink drawing by the artist FRANCIS IVES NAYLOR, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner. The painting depicts St. Paul's Cathedral in London, just after it had sustained minor damage during the blitz and we would date the watercolour to around the late 1940s, as Francis Naylor was studying in London during this period. We have also seen on google images, another drawing of St. Paul's of virtually the same view and this was dated 1948.
Not a lot of his work in this medium seems to come to the market, but a watercolour of his entitled St. Paul's from the River achieved £280 in 1999 at auction in Norfolk.
FRANCIS IVES NAYLOR, S.G.A., was born in Bickley in Kent on the 14th November 1892. He studied art at Hornsey College of Art under J. C. Moody and Norman Janes 1936-40 and 1946-48. He was a painter in oil and watercolour and an etcher.
He was elected a Member of The Society of Graphic Artists. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, The National Society of Painters, Etchers and Gravers and The Society of Graphic Artists. His biography appears in Grant Waters' Dictionary of British Artists. He lived in Hastings in Sussex and died in 1982.
The painting is mounted, glazed and framed in a 1 3/4" wooden frame with gilt insert. It is ready to hang.
Medium Watercolours, pen and ink.
