Egyptian Style Brass & Burr Oak Canister
An early 20thc Egyptian style brass & finely patinated burr oak canister, of exceptional quality.
This canister consists of a lid & canister of burr oak with brass hieroglyphic style inlaid images to create a decorative design. The lid has an inlaid star design & a brass knob. It also has a brass liner inside the canister & it stands on four brass bun feet.
These type of items became very fashionable in the 1930's due to the amazing discoveries of Howard Carter in the tomb of Tutankhamun.
This piece was possibly made in Birmimgham.
